Basketball has been an obsession of New Yorkers for over 100 years. It may have been invented in Springfield, but New York owns the game. This winter 2010, the basketball creative residency partners New York City creatives with the Nike 255 Custom Lab to create a collection using the iconic NSW tee and the N98 track jacket as a canvas.

For Chapter 1, History of the Game, DJ and Bounce Magazine editor Bobitto Garcia along with Nike Recess Federation member Ricardo Viramontes identified the roots of basketball in the heart of New York: the courts. Whether you play in the park, the schoolyard or the projects, this collection draws on a new way of self-identification through the love of the game. Basketball. We own it. We declared it.
